We had a big weekend planned! My dad (Bruce), my older brother (Lanney), his girlfriend (Heather), and her little girl (Aleia) were supposed to come up to visit us this weekend. None of them have seen our new house and it's been a long time since they've been up here for a visit. I bought us some tickets off of Groupon to go to the Oakes Farm Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch! I LOVE all things about Fall so I was super excited about going! But on the way up here, they had a BLOWOUT in my brother's truck!
Thank the Lord, no one was hurt!! As you can see, it did some damage to the rear of the truck, though. (Look what it did to his tail pipe!) They weren't very far along in their drive, so they made the decision to have the truck towed back home and didn't get to come. Safety first!! Hopefully, they'll get to visit sometime soon.
Sooo, with them not coming up, I had some extra time to fill up for the weekend. I started the day off with a couple yard sales and then drug Mandi along to the new flea market in town, Public Market. For anyone who doesn't know, I LOVE yard sales, flea markets, craft fairs, thrift stores, and anything that inspires creativity and a great deal! We got some great things that I can't wait to get a hold of with some paint and fabric (before and after pics coming soon)!
With the day winding down, I decided that we should go to the farm anyway. We met up with some of his (& my future) family and our friends who also already had tickets :). Meet them below...
The Caldwell Family
This is Brendan and Dawn Caldwell and their kids lil' Brendan and Felicia. Brendan is Bill's cousin and my co-worker. I have to sit by him for 8+ hours a day, so he has become a friend as well as a future family member :). He will be one of the groomsmen in our wedding this Spring. Dawn works for a doctor's office, although I'm honestly not sure which one or what exactly she does there...something up front, I think. But she's very down to earth and one of the nicest people you'll meet! The kids are sweet, smart, and well behaved (well, about as well behaved as you can expect kids to be!). Lil' Brendan just joined the band and plays football and Felicia just made Student Council Representative.
The Lee's
This is Alison and Adam Lee. Adam is great with computer stuff (Yeah, I don't know any technical terms) and Alison is very talented with all kinds of things! They're both good people :)
Anyway, I had never been to a pumpkin patch or a corn maze...and still don't feel like I have. They had tons of things for kids to do, but the pumpkin patch wasn't real (they just put a whole lot of pumkins in a field...they didn't grow there) and it was so dusty from the tractors that I got a massive headache that sent me home in pain before we could go through the corn maze :(. Oh, well, maybe next year I will be better prepared.
Well, that's it for the weekend! I'll get some before and after pics of my projects up soon :)
