New house.....BEFORE

These are the BEFORE pics of the new house. It's not officially ours yet, but I wanted to share them so y'all can help me get some ideas on decorating  :)  I didn't take these pics...they're from one of the realty websites. I will take thousands more once we're closer to it actually being ours  :)

Front view. Needs some landscaping and we'll have to make the driveway larger (probably a 'later-on' project).

Living room. Needs paint IMMEDIATELY! Looks orange in real life.

Dining area. I'll be changing out that light fixture for sure! It's new, but it's not my style. Mandi likes it...free light fixture for Mandi!! And I'll be painting those built-in shelves. Bill doesn't like them, but we're leaving them for now and if my amazing paint re-do doesn't thrill him then we may take them out later. (BTW- this whole area used to be a garage that they enclosed. It contains the dining room, laundry room, master bedroom, and master bath.)

Dining area from other side. I LOVE big windows and natural light!!

Master Bath. It was an addition so it's small, but very cute and SO glad to have one! There's a stand up corner shower that you can't see in pic (to the left). This is probably the only room that I'm not painting.

Back of the house. Needs lots of work. Will start with pressure washing, but 'where it goes, no one knows'. (Those double French doors go to the Master Bedroom.)

Kitchen. The cabinets are pretty new and in great shape (except the one in the corner that is broken off. Luckily they left the broken piece so maybe we can fix it.). I can't wait to paint this room! I love red, but I don't think it does any favors for the color of the cabinets or countertops. (Bill likes it.)

Other side of Kitchen. Will probably put a little table and chairs over here for the time being. May add more counter space later. I hate this floor from the bottom of my heart. (Bill likes it.) It's in really good shape, it was laid well, and it's functional, so I'm afraid it'll have to hang around for a while since we need to fix not-so-functional things first. (You can't see it in the pic, but there's a light fixture in the 'breakfast nook' area that matches the one in the dining room. Mandi will be recieving that one too.)

From the Dining room looking into the Master Bedroom.

Master Bedroom.

Front Guest Bedroom. This room gets great light! We'll probably use this as storage til we get settled, but then it will be a guest room/office. Both Guest rooms have carpet that's in really good shape and they have hardwood underneath.

Other side of Front Guest Bedroom. There aren't any closet doors, but that's an easy fix.

Back Guest Bedroom. This room could have escaped painting...except there is an unexplainable pink square on one wall. No idea why.

Back wall of Back Guest Bedroom. We'll eventually update the ceiling fixture.

Guest Bathroom. This room is in great shape. We'll probably replace the toilet (It's really tiny. Awkwardly close to the ground. We are tall people.) May paint the vanity...may not...we'll see.

Laundry room. Very happy to have a decent sized laundry room! Can't see it in pic, but the water heater is to the immediate right when you walk in.

This window is in the Dining area (between the buit-in bookshelves and the laundry room). We want to make this a door. Currently the only way to get to the backyard is through the Master Bedroom...random, right? This window does right only a side deck that connects to the backyard so it'll be a great place for a door  :)

Side deck. The window on the right will become a door.

Pool. It has an above ground pool that currently resembles a pond. It's gross, but shouldn't be too hard to clean up. They left all the pumps and stuff (we think) and we plan to convert it to a salt water system which is supposed to be easier and cheaper to maintain. Hopefully it works  :)  I love all the privacy of the trees along that fence line. Need to find a way to make the side of the pool more attractive, though. Ideas are welcome.

Storage shed. Bill has full reign of the shed. Notice that the yard is fenced in. I'm so excited about the dogs having a place to run!

Well, that's all the photos that were on the web so far. I'll take more later on. Can't wait to start making it our own and sharing all the details with you along the way!

  1. I am LOVING your house. I will tell you right now, you will begin to totally HATE that place when you are covered in paint and everything seems to be breaking and nothing is going right, but once things start to come together and you see everything that you've done, the pride you will feel is AMAZING. we like to show ours off :) lol!

Make sure you take a gazillion pictures. we are amazed still how much ours changed.

I love your kitchen! I'm jealous of all your counterspace lol. and to your pool, we had a jungle around the bottom of ours, and we have pulled all that up and are going to line it off with edger rock, then fill that in with river rock, just a thought!

congratulations girl and I can't wait to come see it!!!

  3. Living room- looks like the room receives light so if you like darker colors, that's where you should put them

kitchen- I like red kitchens, but it clashes with the floor, since the floor has to stay- change the walls (no suggestions, that floor made me sick)

  4. Thanks y'all! We're both anxious for the loan part of the process to be over so we can get our hands on it.

@Whitney- The only people who like the floor are guys! It's so ugly!! Really hoping a neutral paint will help some.

@Hill- Thanks for the pool suggestion! Send pics of y'alls pool when you get it finished :)
